We got him just under a year ago (he was hatched 27th August last year, and we brought him home last October/November time. Within a few weeks he had already learnt some words, and now he says loads and chatters away to himself and us - his favourite being 'Scratchy' where he puts his head down so you can scratch him and 'Kissy' where he gently touches your tongue with his beak!!
They are quite a complex pet and do need a lot of stimulation, company and attention - there is also a lot to learn about behaviour, feeding and do's and don'ts. I found a good website was this one - http://www.parrot-link.co.uk/forum/index.php .
