back box?

Hmmm I think i've blown my backbox 😃

My exhaust system > astra z22se with standard exhaust manifold, pre-cat removed, standard cat, remus centre tube, standard non-irmscher back box.

Did have a remus powersound bb on but it was sooo loud and 'chavy' it really got on my nerves and did'nt want to pay vauxhall mega money for an irmscher so just got a standard 2.2 bb fitted.

This bb has been excellent, looked crap like a standard 1.6 from the back, but was really quiet and i think the car drove better with the added back pressure? notsure.gif

Anyway did an ecu reset the other day and been driving easy for a week or 2, but then gave her a real good blast down the dual. Errr no more quiet exhaust cryb.. not sure what happened, guess it got hot and fell to bits inside??

So Im looking for a new bb to flange mount to my remus pipe, it has got to be pretty quiet and subtle, like standard maybe a wee bit louder. Thinking about going custom and getting it well baffled.

What you guys running with similar setup?

Magnex may be about the quietist, they do three different diameters 2", 2 1/4" and 2 1/2" but quite dear circa £200.
How about a big cherry bomb.

Mmmm magnex, courtneys do these dont they? have heard these are good before... anyone got one with a remus tube??

think it'll have to be nice and new and shiney Johnny but i guess the irmscher is an option, will it be quiet? made by remus aswell??

Irmscher backboxes are quite quiet with a normal system but if you've got a Remus pipe I would have thought it will be louder as most backboxes with a Remus pipe usually are.

Magnex are very good. I'm waiting on a Milltek Cat-back from Courtenay at the moment. The chap who ran Magnex now runs Milltek so I would expect the Magnex to be of a high quality.

Mmmm yeah meant courtenay... forgive my spelling. May have to consider getting a cat-back and ditching the remus centre, does the milltek have a centre silencer? and you know what im gonna say 🙂 is it loud? 😃

I guess im not in any hurry cause my blown system is still usable, just a bit loud now.

So many options it does my head in :lol: i guess the remus centre really does increase the noise alot because the standard centre box is so huge and restrictive..

Give Mark Watts a ring on Monday about the Milltek. He's got a Milltek cat-back fitted on his Super Charged Astra. Milltek are for the 'More Decerning Enthusiast'.
Nice sound. If you ring him, tell him John from Bristol advised you.
