Power Steering Fluid ?

Hi all, wonder if you can help !?!?

I want to renew my steering fluid, hoping that it has a positive effect !! My steering is fairly heavy and sqeals. I do have a brand new pump but want to try the fluid change first. Does anyone know how to change the fluid ? Is there a plug somwhere for it ? dunno..

it can make a difference, easiest way is to disconnect one of the power steering rack connectors.

to bleed the system afterwards simply turn the steering lock to lock a few times with the engine running

cheers again neil for answering both my questions tonight !!! Where would i locate the feed on the rack ? will it just pour out ?

you will have to undo the pipe connection, it will pour out :roll:

When bleeding, if you can get both wheels off the floor it would be a massive help to you. When I done mine recently, I had to stand outside the car with the door open with all my 16 stone strength pulling on the steering wheel to turn it. Turning lock to lock 4 or 5 times is no joke!!

haha john. Is it that with the new fluid in so as to prime the system ?

Didnt think of that !!! Thats a very good point,d ont fancy doing that !!!

I took the pump off to replace a few seals. A lot of the fluid came out when I took the pump off. I topped the system back up and then obviously had to get rid of the air in the system. It was bloody hard work.

must say i changed mine the other month and what a difference its made to the car . even the missus noticed a change when she took it out the other day walkthedog..
