2.2 SRI Spluttery, engine light, coked exhaust!! Help!!

Hi,

I've posted a few times about this, and Im getting to the point where it's time for the SRI to go (after 3 weeks of ownership!!!)

The car has been spluttery from day one really, and the engine light comes on and goes off at will. I did a full service, including 3 Core plugs as advised by Vocky, and it STILL spluttered. Just bought a new coil pack, and yes, it still splutters and throws the EML light on!! What the hell do I change next?????

I took the plugs out, and the where very chalky, so I thought, its running lean BUT, the exhaust is coked with soot at the tailpipe!!! So doesnt that mean rich?????

Im am now thinking a Lambda has gone, as that's my last guess :cry:

Your thoughts??? And any good places to buy the Lambda's??? Theres none on Fleebay dunno..

Know any good places to get the 02 sensors??? I guess its the top one I need to replace???

The one closest almost under the EGR valve which should go after the cat.
The other is the O2 in front of the cat and has some blue on the plug.

Vocky did post a link fairly recently around £35? all the ones ive seen are around £60 or more plus postage.

you should change the upper (mixture) lambda first dunno..

I buy from www.lambdapower.co.uk but the ebay ones are much cheaper 🙂

Got to get mine done, struggled to stay with a 2.2 Astra, mind you i was 4 up.

There seems to be universal Lambdas, which ones would work?

All seem to be from zirconia £55+ post onwards for a reputable jobby, scoured the net.
Universal from £35.

Having read most of this links diagnostics i am suffering with a multitude of these signs.

Now quite confident of the cause without attempting to remove the seized lambda.

I've used lambdapower twice, both times they arrive the next day cheers..

they are also a plug and play, every clip, loom, plug.....just rip off the old and fit the new one 🙂

try coolant sensor if it is faulty it will be telling the ecu the engine is cold and will be overfueling causing missfire and other problems only about six quid plus vat and very easy to change
