Had an Ashley on my old XR2 about 25% louder, higher pitched and unbearable.
Driving in enclosed spaces i tried to avoid.
For me me function over looks but we've all been there.
I ended up soundproofing the whole car with flashing tape, and expending foam to try keeping the noise down.
When I really wanted to have some fun in the car, because it was so light, I'd strip the whole interior out, apart from the 2 front seats, and rag it about quite a bit. Now, that exhaust (straight through from the manifold) was unbelievably loud in the cabin with no interior in.
