Hello all !

I fitted some new air con pipes after my old one breaking in the common place, the condensor thing !!

Had it pressure tested and its fine so i was very happy but my compressor has broke. It all works but does not make the air cold. Do you think its a new compressor job or is there something else in the line ? I dont know too much about air con !!

Mine has been regassed and has no leaks and my air-con doesn't come out cold either!!

My air-con isn't blowing out cold air either well not as cold as my Hatchback does... Sorry for jumping in on the post but does anyone think I'd be better trying getting it regassed???

Top left hand corner of the head, if you were looking at it from the front of the car. Theres a bracket with a pipe attached and a condenser. The pipe usually breaks at the join with the condenser.

Yep, i call it the milk-bottle shape thing haha!!!

I think it was a recall in which vauhall fitted a bracket to the condensor which help it in place, its the vibration that eventually breaks the joint.

I was talking to my friend who regassed it at the garage and he says the compressor is broke. The air con system works liek normal but the compressor doesnt make the air cold. Perhaps you have the same problem as me Johnny ? Its annoying.

Anyone know what its like to fit the compressor, it looks extremely awkward to get too, it think its a big ramp job and attack it from the underside !!! :evil:

If its any help i am gonna junk the whole lot as it absorbs power, plus i have never ever used it from new.

There is a bracket on mine, its broke, codged up by the local VX dealer and was charged £150 for a new one about three years ago.

Air Conditioning.

🙂 I have been through the mill with this one so here is a few ideas. First off if you change any of the pipes you must vacuum the system using a vacuum pump before regassing it. This is because the air that has entered the system while it is open contains water vapour. What then happens is when you re-gas and run the air conditioning the extreme cold of the gas freezes the water vapour into tiny balls of ice and this then wrecks the compressor. Compressor change is quite simple but they are expensive and you will have to vacuum and re-gas plus new oil charge. I bought a book from Haynes which helped me understand much better what is going on. You can buy the stuff to re-gas your self from this web site :

I bought a charge hose and two cans of R134C gas, an oil charge and I borrowed a vac pump from work. It was quite simple. You can also buy die to put into the system so that if it does leak you can see where from. You need to read the book and follow the instructions that come with the charge hose and cans of refrigerant. Wear eye protection just in case. If you do feel its too much to attempt don't go the dealer they are top price - best look for one of these mobile guys in yellow pages or Autotrader.

Ditto mines the same had it done last week from kwik-fit not going back there again 🙁

Got my money back tho so didnt lose out .....

Got the car booked in with a/c specialist on mon ...

www.alpinair.co.uk these guys seem to stock parts etc for all makes of a/c ...

air con recall

this is my first post so how you all doin?
can anyone tell me the recall details for the air con and has anyone tried to coerce vx into carrying it out. i thought mine was broken after my beloved crashed the 150 saloon (well it is hers) but the snap is exactly where everyone elses is and i was just going to get it done but i might just try my luck with mr clark

depends on the age of the car, vx used to repair under warrenty.

otherwise join the club of vectra owners who have had to buy a new one 🙁

Regas would be the possible solution in this case. However, he told that he don't know about too much in regards with air con troubleshooting matters. The best option is to get his air con to his nearest a/c specialist.
