Patriot Performance Heads

Hi,

I am playing with the idea of getting one of Patrot Performance's heads - noone in my country can do proper head work, and I have friends in US that can sort out the re-shipment for me 🙂

So, does anyone have any info / experience with them? Will they fit the VX220 engine without any (extensive) modification? What cams should I get (that preferably doesnt make the stock ECU go havoc)? etc. etc.

it's just the shipping which usually doubles the price and not forgetting customs too :roll:

Yep, I'll just use the friend of mine to reship it via cargo company and mark it "accordingly". Worked fine for the 4age silvertop for another project 🙂

Just wondering about the cams - I could get Shrick from DE, but no idea if they will work with the head (I know that "additional work" is required with the standard head). Or am I better off with some US cams that I can stick in the head shipment?

the head will be identical to your z22se head, just ported etc 😃

the shrick cams come with the modified collets and should bolt straight on 🙂

Don't forget......Schrick cams need the hexagon drive machined into the end of the inlet cam if fitting to a Vectra. The inlet cam drives the power steering pump.

Thanx guys.

I've just checked their catalog and it says that the valve seats must be machined to accomodate the springs (which are mandatory accessory too) and I am reluctant to have anyone do it locally. The patriot head (at least checking the lmperformance site) already comes with springs too. I guess I'll have to check other options.

been looking about at patriot heads too..... seems that for Vee engines they arent well regarded but for the L61 they are fine so thats all good 😃

Do you know if these are just standard heads lost foam cast heads reworked or are they a better quality casting?

we've got three 5-axis machines in special products at work, wonder if I could blag some time on them?

and type116 but that's quite in the evening.

I'm thinking of trying to fit a SAAB head at some point the
'aero' bar head and cheap grade Al is by far the weakest part of the z22se engine

I know all the cooling channels and oil gallery's are the same, according to Dude on VX220.org.uk who ran one on his race car the only difference is that one of the cams is shorter (i'd quote him but VX220.org.uk is down)
