Pollen Filter

Just changed this, as it's not been done since the car was built!

The old one was disguisting, and I was suffering with misting windows all the time, and the air coming through the vents wasn't very "fresh"

Nice and easy to do, and should hopefully make a difference.

The chap at Vauxhall told me that pollen filters contain extremely nasty bugs and airborn viruses. He told me to dispose of it by burning if possible. Other than that, put it in a sealed plastic bag.

I put mine straight in the old box, and whacked it in the bin.

lol, thats bad !!! checked mine the other day and its the same !!! I must change it. Ive been putting it off becasue im annoyed that after fitting a new air con pipe (What a job that was) my compressor is broke !!

It's definitely worth doing. I put it of for the past couple of years, and for £9, will be doing it every 12 months now.

Is it an easy job Matt? Just I don't think mine's been done since the car was made either also is their any tell tale sighns that it needs changed?

Alan it is believe it is really easy to do, i found a easy how to guide i will PM it to you.

The astra is fitted under the glovebox from wot i remember...and the bolts are a 5.5mm head,but pretty straight forward..

after seeing this tread i ordered my new pollen filter. i think its going to be shocking as when the air con is on its got a bad musty smell.

Thats exactly what mine was like, and the windows also misted up very easily. Since replacing the filter, it doesn't smell, and the windows no longer mist up all the time either

Matt i assume that was a like for like, knob settings in the same place etc.
Mine has always misted up ultra quickly since 3777 miles and by far the worst car i have ever had for that. Have to drive with window down a touch or venting to the screen but then all other windows mist up within a minute. The floods the other week was a pain with lorries coming the other way.

There was a filter for the aircon changed 17 months ago.
Never ever used the aircon, waste of space for me but is the pollen filter for the heating system, aircon or both?

On the Astra it's used for all 3, because it sits just before the trunking inside the cabin for the air vents.

The pollen filter is a very important part of the air-con system. Needs to be tip top really.
