Just Witnessed A Woman Cheat Death.

Me and the lad decided to catch the train into town, on the way up the station steps a woman was sat there with her young lad, she told me there was a woman lay on the tracks, me and the lad looked and she was just lay there. There was a bloke her knew of her and said she was a p1ss head. She then sat up and started saying "i wanna kill my self". We could hear a train in the distance but she wouldnt move. The train got closer and wasnt stopping at the station so it was going some speed. No one could bare to watch so we all went down the steps. The driver didnt spot her till the last moment, he was blasting the horn and the brakes were screeching like mad but it just went right over her. The bloke went up to have a look and she survived, not even a scratch on her. It took the train 1/4 of a mile to stop, the driver ran down the track to see her, she was just sat there laughing. I feel sorry for the driver as i bet this will haunt him for a while.

Dear me! That sort of thing is nasty! The poor driver would have ran all that way on pure adrenaline!

I hear stories like this all the time....my best friend works in Barnsley power box, which feeds all the major stations in Yorkshire. A woman walked out in front of a train bang outside the powerbox. Needless to say, she didn't survive, and went home in several bags. The drivers get offered councelling for these sort of incidents, and so do all the other staff involved.

Just the one rail line from Telford to Wolverhampton there is usually an incident at least once a month, the drivers are used to it. The police doing what they get highly paid for a change.
Gruesome when hit by a train have a look on www.rotten.com somewhere, not for the feint hearted as a warning.

Oh and i bet the coppers done her.

Can`t stop thinking of this its doing my head in :roll: Something else that is wierd, me and the lad nipped over to tesco a few hours later, there was a lad stood out side the doors with his pet puppy dog, i thought it was lovely and was stroking it. On the way back walking up the canal we saw the same lad and his puppy along with his mum...... it was the same woman who told me that there was a woman on the tracks at the station!!!

He`s 13 mate, the other lad at the station was younger, around 10/11 i would say. Speaking to his mum a good few hours after he seems a bit shook up as he said various thinks like, i never want to be a train driver and i dont want to go on a train again. Just shows how one persons mentality effects others.

Thats terrible, not really a suicide attemp but saw a young girl start to cross a national limit lane just as a landrover sped past, as she realised she jumped back but she did get clipped by the wing mirror. The mirror sent her into a long spin until she was very dizzy !!! Nasty to witness just how close she was to almost certainly being seriously or fattaly injured.

I work for London Underground, so I have seen my share of nastiness and stupidness. Kids are the worst culprit for stupidness. I have seen so many kids run in front of a train playing chicken and be less than inches from death. Never seen a suicide, but having seen a person under a train it is not a nice thing to have to deal with, certainly not something I want to see again in a hurry.

As previously said, the train operating company will normally provide counselling etc, London Underground being very good at this, but that doesn't always solve problems.

These people really don't realise what kind of mental anguish it puts on the drivers of the trains. I have known some really nice guys have to quit thier jobs becuase they panic whenever they go near a train. Its very sad.
