Is this engine broke?

My brothers car is playing up. It's a 1.4 Astra Mk3 and it's not sounding very good when turning over. To me it sounds like the timing belt is broke, but it's still turning round. He also said it's just been done :? . Ever since he had the car serviced it's been poor, the power has been rubbish. It can't even climb a normal hill :? . It gave up starting yesterday after bump starting it down a hill to help get it started dunno..

Maybe it's been timed up totally wrong?

Probably, it will be too late for it now, as it will have bent valves I would have thought. It just sounds like something is spinning when trying to start it.

I told him it was broke today as I thought that might be the case. He is gutted as it was his first car. I told him I will get him a better newer one

it would be cheap to fix, it's only got 8 valves dunno..

On the 1.4 8v it is very common for them to knacker their distrubitor. This is the most common thing that goes wrong with the Astra F with this engine in it.

He has had a new distrubitor on it, I have told him I will buy him a better motor, and have found one for him to fix up 🙂

Lol, he has only been passed his test a little while and it's his fist car. He works so he is doing well for himself but his wage is poor. He reminds me of me alot, so I want to help him out with a newish motor.
