strange noise from engine

Hi!

I have an Opel Speedster that i haven't been using for about 2 weeks. It has been standing out in the rain.

It starts as normal but after that the engine sound very strange.

I recorded two samples with my mobile phone.

Hello and welcome. That sound clip does not sound very good. I hope Vocky can help you out on that one. It sounds like noisy tappets or dodgey chain?

sounds like a cracked exhaust manifold dunno..

might be the chain,but sounds like the exhaust blowing notsure.gif

Thanks for the answres, do you think it is OK to drive the car to the workshop or should i tow the car?

I understand that it can be hard to identify the problem from a recorded sound from a mobile phone.
Is there anything I can do so it will be easier to identify the problem?

If its not too much hassle, Illd tow the car, or get someone out to look at (listen to) it.
Too nice a car to risk causing more damage by driving.
Hopefully it`s something simple, but not worth the risk.

The two first samples was recorder from inside the car, this is recorded about 10cm from the engine. This last sample is more accurate to the real sound.

as you can hear there is some metalic in the last sample.

it does sound very metalically would get it to garage straight away!
