Just done manifold and pre-cat

Had the ticking noise and found the manifold had cracked, it came off easy so whilst I had it in my hand I took it to my work where the welder welded it up. Whilst I was under the car messing about I though I may as well do the pre-cat removal, piece of piss! could get the O2 sensors off so I just unplugged them. The drilling took about 20 mins then 10 mins of big screwdriver work and 5 mins of cleaning up.

My questions are, is the weld likely to last or like I think will it fail after 1 month?

Would it be best to disconnect my battery and reset the ECU before I take it out?

I havent got a performance air filter yet, which is the best for the money? pipercross at £30 or K&N for £40?

I think 90% of the time it's all down to personal choice. I've had Pipercross in all my previous cars, where as other people will only use K&N.

the weld might last forever and a couple of hours, cast iron is a pig to weld :roll:

at least you removed the cause - the precat
