Kidd_Sri Hi just got my car back from the garage and the guy said i am leaking power steering fluid and needs the steering rack replacing. He quoted about £480 (uni part) something for fitting and part. I seached around and found this site http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/acatalog/Vectra96-Steering.html they had a very very cheap original part but unfortunately its not suitible for my car (according to chassis number) I just wanted to know if anyone has a good place to get the part thats cheap and how much roughly should it cost to replace? any suggestions that can help will be gratefully recieved. £480 is a big dent in my pocket that i dont really want to folk out for unless i cant help it. bobssy They are hard to get without knowing the one u have. I had mine done a few months ago and most places said they couldnt give me a price as there were 3 types and if the wrong one is fitted it would catch the airbag cable, snap it and u would have ur airbag light on. Finaaly got a fella who new what he was doing to tell me which one I had without having to take it off beforehand. He charged £100 for a recon, £80 to fit. I was happy with this as fitting can be expensive in some places.

Kidd_Sri ok may consider getting a reconditioned one if they prices are stupidly priced. Can i ask where you got your recon one from? and what car do you have? i was told by another mechanic that there are two versions for my car.
vocky there's a zf rack and the 'other one' :oops: might be worth ringing a few 'rack' reconditioners to find a better deal dunno..

bobssy Thats about £34.50 per hour. Average is around £35. If u lived local I could give u the number of the fella that done mine. Couldnt beat that price and I shopped around abit too.
