Mark_Dj Well after using a Vectra Dti for a while and now having a 2.2 to use again I can't believe how quick it is  . It makes a lovely noise when the foot is down and like I say I can't believe how quick they are 8) . The only thing I don't miss is how much fuel they use up to the diesels
Andy yeah i suppose when you drive one every day you get used to it but after driving something slower for a while they feel very nippy
Hutchinson Hopefully this effect will work for me too then! Matt Bankier's 2.2 used to almost keep up with my GSI. It was rapid off the line too, I've got a video of it on the 1/4 mile at Santa Pod somewhere. I reckon it's down to the gearbox though.
Andy i find mine is fairly quick off the line but starts to run out of steam where the GSi would keep pulling strong. had a bit of a race with a v6 sri and there wasn't much in that.
Hutchinson That's exactly what would happen with Matt and I!! 😃 Only now he's got a Z20let and can pretty much hand my ass to me!! 😃
Hutchinson Andy said: would love a z20let in mine but can't afford one 🙁 Matt thought that until necessity (cracked cylinder head) meant he had to get a new engine. It's a pretty mean engine to transplant in too. 😉
DBcoup Just had an encounter with an Audi RS4, now that is one hell of a quick car! And to top it off his reg plate read ROCKET. felt as if i was in a Nissan Micra 😃
Hareng Theres some videos of the RS4 on yahoo and elsewhere i was having a gawp at last week. One in particular was a Scooby WRX and an RS4, but where did that 4 Sport come from?
Drakey Having been in my mates old VX200, it`s obviously noticeably quicker than my heavy lump of a Vectra, how does the Vec compare to the Astra (both being standard)?
Hareng As a rough guide due to the weight difference mr Drakey i would say 10 to 15hp, the Astra aint got no mod cons its a relatively basic interior and stupid things add up to a lot of weight. I prefered an Astra 5 years ago, but this was the decider with half leather and a decent dash.
Drakey Yeah, I just miss the Mk4 Astra, only had a 1.8 sport but a fantastic looking car. Suppose I`m used to the Vectra now and take the creature comforts forgranted.
Hareng Off the top of your head was the Astra about the same being 130hp against 150hp, interested. Dare say the 2.2 better over 4000rpm.
Drakey The 1.8 sport only boasted 115bhp, the Vectra was a big jump for me. But definately 4000rpm (approx 3500 now, feels better after derestricting the airbox) and the 2.2`s in its element.
blue_se2 Not sure don't do many constant long runs i'll let ya know when i get back off holiday be a good time to try it out.
