new car???

hello all, havent been on in ages, mainly due to the fact that me and my girlfriend have just got our first house 😃 !!!!!

basically, i might have to do a 30mile commute every day so cryb.. the astra might have to go. it will cost to much for us to run the astra :cry: :cry:

so the plan is to maybe sell the astra, pay off the finance to free up some more cash every month and buy somethin for around the £2000 mark.

it all sounds simple but the problem is i dont want to give up my 2.2 for any old car!!! i was thinking along the lines off gettin a 2.0 corsa or a seat ibiza gti(16v off course) but i just aint convinced!!!!

anyone got any ideas off wat i could get that will be as close to the astra as possible!!!!?????

I suppose it would only be illegal if he didn't pay the finance off. I guess that if he pays it off then signs the car over no one will be too fussed.

Btw, surely your Astra ain't that thirsty that you couldn't cope with 60 mile a day!

I do a 100+mile round trip to work and back each day. I dont hang about alot of the time and Im returning 35.4mpg at the mo.
It all depends on your route to work, most of mines A roads, might be worth trying it for a month or so.

...........and you can`t leave us cryb..

no, it is through the bank so it is not secured on the car, it is alot cheaper!!!!

i really dont want to get rid off the astra, but it is quite shocking on fuel!!!! £15 will return about 120 miles and that is goin really easy on it!!! fuel up here is about 97p a litre i think.
so it will be about £35-£40 a week, which im sure other first time buyers can appreciate is alot off money!!!!!

can someone work out the mpg on that??

I do a 25 mile round trip in the car, when i cant use the bike and i average about 29.9 :cry:

If i was to use my car all week i reckon it would cost me about £25

I do 70 mile a day in mine. get about 310miles to a tank and fill up about once and a bit each week a rough cost of about £42. It may be a bit heavy on the juice but much better then the V6 and it's a nice comfy car.

30 mile aday should be ok but i supose it depends on what your finacial situation is.

I always look that if you buying second hand and older you are also buying what some one does not want / wants to get rid of for a reason. So straight away you may need brakes \ tyres \ exhaust \ service \ mot.

If yours is a good runner the extra MPG yours is going to cost you it may work out cheaper to keep yours.

i am definately goin to run it for a month to see how it goes.

the car i am thinkin about replacin it with is a pug 306 hdi in merridean blue, they are basically the gti-6 but with a diesel motor. it will be slow compared to astra but if worst comes to worst i think that is wat i would get.
