Exhaust rattling?

When i got over bumps etc, my exhaust is making a rattling noise, as though something is loose or something.

Its not hitting the bumper which i first thought, as you can move the exhaust side to side, up and down etc, and it doesnt touch the bumper, but when you give it a little knock with your hand, it makes the rattling noise again?

Any ideas?

Also, makes it when i start the car up too. And also when the car is cold, and gets started up, when i give it a little rev, there is a sort of whistling noise coming from under the car, asthough there is some kind of hole or something letting out air when the car is revved.

Bare in mind i have no idea about cars etc, so be gentle 🙂 lol

Anyone have any ideas on what the two things could be?

The rattle could be the heat shield around the centre box / cat. Give it a poke with a bar or something to see if it hits anything.

Is the exhaust stainless? If not then it could be a small hole in it (the noise I mean)... Even if it is there could still be a hole in the cat / downpipe section.

Easiest thing is to take it into an exhaust place and get them to check it out. I've done exhausts before at home with hand tools and it isn't worth it. Find a decent one and they will get a new one on in seconds with a gas axe. Plus it will only cost you a tenner or so to fit. They will be able to tell you the problem straight away.

Forgot to mention that there is also a bad smell of petrol when i start the car up in the morning, or if been sitting for a hour or longer. ???

Sorry can't help on that one except the obvious point that there could be a fuel leak... Anyone else???
