major surgery !

well my vx220's engine has recovered from major surgery this morning :shock:

I blame JohnnyN of course :lol:

on tickover it had a little rattle 🙁

I diagnosed it to be the hydraulic lifters :cry:

so out with the cams and sixteen new hydraulic lifters later.............quiet has returned, well the exhaust is louder now :lol:

Nice job vocky good to know it's all up and well agian think you best buy a new vx220 can't be to carefull lol

it was running fine, just an annoying rattle :roll:

I don't think the lifters ever adjusted fully to the piper cams dunno..

wasn't cheap, but :roll:

lifters are 20 quid each arent they ? - i got them costed up before dunno..

Its the price of the cams that worry me, £300 cheaper and i would have them.

Something like £350 in the US for a 265 supposedly race profile, jeez i had 285's years ago on single carb for road use. 310 to 330 should be race, 300 rally.

cams are £235 inc vat from pipercams in Kent cheers..

Did you supply the originals for reprofiling? Cant afford car off the road and need to drive the power steering.
Sure ive seen £600+ from Piper outright.

you need to supply a pair of standard cams, you should be able to pick up some these days on ebay etc notsure.gif

the cams give 10 bhp on their own according to piper cheers..

you have two sets of vx220 (or astra 🙂 ) cams and I have two sets of vectra cams.......really spooky :lol:

I know the z22se inside and out :oops:

that's the problem, I know when a component isn't 100% and I will change it :roll:
