Most probable the cam chain.
Mine wasnt what you could call that noisy and i put certain symptoms down to the inlet and exhaust cam timing out as the chain stretched.
Could well be the egr valve also, mine happened at about the same time, so blanked it off at first. Even better make a donation of £10 to this forum and sir Vocky will send you an EGR cheater and do away with the said valve.
Firstly get the chain replaced then worry about the egr, otherwise scrap car.
