Need Advice......

I had someone else drive my astra last week and they were puzzled by my gearbox, they own a 2.2 and there is next to no travel in the gearbox at all yet there is loads of mine. He didn't think I had the original gearbox which began to worry me... Later on I stuck my head under the bonnet and sure enough found the F23 stamp so it is the right box but why such a difference?? It is pushing me towards buying a quickshift, need opinions. There are sets on ebay with a new leaver and all sorts are these ok??

Also my irmy backbox the flange is starting to perish and I dont fancy forking out for a new one so I need some good alternatives, nothing too expensive and nothing too loud as the in laws do drive it from time to time.

All opinions necessary.....

The F23 came with different ratio gears but i'm not sure about wheather the throw between gears would be any different. Your linkage cable maybe stretched and need adjusting?

its almost like there is alot of travel from gear to gear but its quite firm and clunky actually engaging the gear if you know what i mea, so by the time you have changed gear you loose alot of your revs which is quite frustrating.

The exhaust is a very common problem,i had the same issue last yr, so found a brand new one on ebay (going very cheap) and bought a new mid section from vauxhall with my discount. I could have got round the problem but just didnt have time etc

well I have got the remus centre already so didnt want to go out and but a full cat back system, do you know if the 2.2 is the same fitment as all the other engines as there are loads for other astra's but not the 2.2??

does anyone know where I can get hold of just the quickshift linkage rather than the full set including shift?? Also any ides how easy it iis to fit? is there a how to??

LMF do the short shift 🙂

it does sound like the cable linkage needs setting up :roll:
