the egr valve is used to lower emissions at certain driving conditions 🙂
it is not fitted to the usa version of the z22se.
with the egr valve costing as much as £150 + fitting at the dealers it becomes an expensive 'white elephant' when it fails 🙁
blanking off the egr valve can help prolong the valve's life, a faulty valve throws an eml [warning light on dash]
the 'egr cheater' is used to replace a faulty valve 🙂
you don't gain any performance from blanking the egr system, but it does stop exhaust gases re-entering the engine [which cannot be good]
It will pass the mot fine without the egr.
vauxhall do remove the egr valve on some cars when it fails, but it depends on the model/year of the affected car :roll:
