I must admit that I have been worrying over nothing about the lumpy idle that I thought was a misfire.
The car went to the main dealer Dan Harfords today. I'd booked it in for a Tech 2 Diagnostics check, Cam Timing and Compression Test. The technician phoned me at 12:30pm and told me that Tech 2 had shown no problems. He then asked about the cams and said that they would be making a difference to the idle and that the engine was not misfiring but just lumpy. The car revs fine and drives fine. I asked about the cam timing and he had yet to check it.
At 2:30pm he phoned me back again and said that the timing was, "Spot on the button!".
He's also done the compression test and found that all cylinders were 150psi. So all is okay and i've been worrying about nothing.
He said that he'd had a car with uprated cams fitted years ago and they were naturally lumpy on tickover and that's nothing to worry about.
I'm £141 lighter in the pocket but I suppose i've got piece of mind.
I wonder if Daz or Benny can switch off the worrying part in my head with Tech 2??
