tossing up between fixing my bellhousing or getting another box,
(my box altho ok is a high miler and the bellhousing is damaged)

i understand theres 2 types of F23, a close ratio (CR) and standard(WR?)

where are the markings for this ?

or i can do the nasty and swap bellhousings i guess.....

vectra B 2.2 sri gearbox is the one you need cheers..

personally I would find someone to weld yours 🙂

tbh im going to have a crack welding it myself, if it fails it fails, no harm trying,

failing that jb weld or something.

theres a vectra breaking on ebay, but doesnt say if its an sri or not - local too

this box im looking at has < 50k on it, so how can i easily tell the difference ?
might go for it, its quite cheap and local

seems like it is an sri one, has SE on it, which i think mine has, - its an option i guess dunno..

I remember checking the data for the gear ratios of the vec sri 2.2 and the vx220 2.2, they were the same 🙂

Good luck ! welding casting like that, is not for the faint hearted :shock:

it was the funniest thing ever, it was like november the 5th in my garden :shock:
hasn't turned out too good either 🙁 but might be able to salvage it or just get that other box, was worth a try tho

problem is you have to have the wire feed on high on a high temp, and the wire kept snapping, lets say i wont be taking up alloy fabrication anytime soon (stick to the day job methinks...........)

my understanding is there are quite a few different F23's.

The one for the 2.2's was unique due to the starter motor location.

The X20XEV, Z20LET and the 2.0 diesel were also available with the F23. All 3 had different ratio's.

I take it the Vec C has a long ratio box as its got loads of legs but takes its time getting there. Could do with a shorter one to get all that weight moving.

The zafira is the shorter ratio (cause it is the heavier one of course)
