bmw 318

i have been offered a swap for a 2000 BMW 318 Ci Coupe has anyone ever had one or now much about them ?

The 318 CI Couple is a very nice car. I've looked at the 325 CI before, which has the 2.5 engine. It won'tbe as fast as the Astra, but they do look very nice.

i think the 318 is a 2 litre. rear wheel drive like all BMs, nice cars though

I always get the engine sizes mixed up on beemers, my farther-in-law had a 318 compact, and that was a 2 litre.

yeah 318 and below are 4 cylinder 320 and above are a straight 6

my dad has a BMW E46 coupe and its a cracking car to drive. i'd swap my vec for one any day.

i take it being a 2000 model its an E46 model, think the 318 is a 1.9 engine so will feel a bit slow compared to your astra.

Personally i'd have to have the 2.5 straight six. The BMW is a big old car to shift along with a 2.0 ltr engine. As far as build quality and reliablility, they are the Ultimate Driving Machine and that says it all.

I find them very uncomfortable unless they have super high spec making the seats much better. I dont like them, personally i dont think build quality is any better than that of the mk4 astra. Other than it being RWD i dont ever see the point of owning one. Especially as you'll soon forget you have indicators 😃

i have to disagree with that. the build quality on my old mans is far superior to that of my vectra.

Also, you may think im talking broken biscuits here, but, the majority of BMW's that ive had in the garage over the years, that have always been serviced, when they approach the 100k mark or go past it, sound like they've been owned and raced by a 17 year old nipper for all its life.

For braking the 100k barrier i just dont think you can beat all the 'V's, VW, Volvo and Vauxhall.

bmws are very nice cars but i would definately go for a 6 cyl model the four cyl are ok but not as refined.

as for swapping for your astra i dont think i would bother you wouldnt be satisfied with the 318i unless it is fully loaded with elecy everything and leather m sport body kit now that would be tempting

And another thing, if the car is really that good why is he wanting a swap. Always seems strange to me this swapping business.

Gotta agree with the 4 cyl/6 cyl quote.....the 4 cylinders always seem underpowered to me...
