Ok next query, fitting cams then chain on new build

Im at the point where i'm fitting the cams,

engine at TDC (woodruff key at the top of the cranknose)

is there a procedure for fitting the cams correctly before tightening them down ?

(i dont want to bend a valve etc)

heh im trying to build the engine using online pics and the TIS which is bordering on photocopies 🙂

I would align the cam timing roughly, then tighten the cam caps, remember they are not very tight, just nipped up :shock:

yeah thats what ive done, just didnt dare tighten the caps down, i guess tightening the cam caps down (9nm iirc) forces the valves to open, just wasnt sure

just be careful on tightening the bolts, I stretched a set on my vec a few years ago and had to wait 2 weeks for some new ones :cry:
