how quick is the 2.2 sri 2001 compard to other cars with cat back and air box mods?

i used to have a vw 1.9 tdi 130 bhp and i think that was quicker defo from 20-80 i thought a 2.2 petrol would be quicker notsure.gif

2.2 has no chance against a 1.9 TDI 130. I test drove an Audi A4 Avant that I was looking at buying last year and it went like fekkin billio!! HUGE amounts of torque.

yeah i had the skoda fadia vrs, a bit shy to say skoda at first!! :shock:
done 7k init and sold it.

its just the 2.2 petrol is quicker off the mark and quicker above 90 its the turbo i guss. I brought the astra honestly thinking it would be alot quicker becouse before the skoda i only had a 1.6 8v escort. :razz:

dude with my coupe i've beaten an a 2.5 v6 tdi with 150 hp

the a4 avant tdi 130 is like 10.1 secz 0-100kmh while my coupe is 8.8.

Having alot more torque doesnt mean its faster all the way. U should take a look at the torque curve, most modern diesels have alot of torque from 2k to 3k rpm but then it fades. It might feel faster cuz of the torque but its not

I should have took you as a passenger in my old beast then Xinials, if your neck could have took the G.
There were higher horse power twin turbo V6 super cars from japland but they didnt have the torque and of course were lighter also being 2wd, i had 4wd to absorb even more power and at 1.4 tonne. This was from 40mph onwards, not standing starts. I could guarantee i would obliterate them 3 car lengths over 25yards in standing start by which time i would be doing 35mph!
Got to know how to use the engine rev range.
The other day a friggin Fiesta road hogger beat me, well chuffed 😃

I reckon put our cars on a crash diet and shed 0.4 of a tonne of junk electrical items.

i think the 2.2 is well slow i never race anybody from standing start as i am sure they would win ,however well good on motorway

I have test drove a standard 1.9 VRS and i doubt it would have my Astra, now the 1.9 Cupra my friend has would punish it. So a re-mapped VRS against the 2.2 would not stand a chance.

I am totaly against street racing, but i had a test with my friend that owns a 2.0 golf gt TDi 140bhp upto 60mph from standing start the Astra had 1 1/2 to 2 cars on it. (my astra does have a few mods though).

So a standard 130bhp 1.9TDi against a 2.2 would be close but i would put my money on the 2.2. Obviously driver skills ect will be a huge factor.

gooner my i ask why you sold the VRS?

i had it on pcp it was costing 220 a month so i kept it for 8 months and give it back. If i owned it and could of remaped without voiding warrenty i would have kept it.

having gone from one car to the other from a rolling start from 20 the skoda would leave the astra choking on black smoke 😃 When you get over 90 theres no power left in deisels wheres as the astra is just getting faster cheers..

dont forget the deisels have turbos if the petrol had a turbo its bye bye deisel,
its wrong to try and compear whats better deisels have loads of turbo touque and top out at 4.5k 2.2 petrols have no touque but power up to 6.5k revs. cheers..

Plus the VRS was a buncy f**ker round corners :? (not good)

I dont claim to be the worlds best driver (even though i got 16 yrs ncb 😃 ) OR test drove all cars available, but even though the 2.2 is n/a, i truly believe that with a few cheap mods, a nice low stiff suspension, and most importantly of all..driven WELL, with an understanding of how to get as much of the torque and hp out of the car at given revs, it will p*ss all over most cars of equivelent spec and performance! Granted its not the most agile around town, and may suffer in a 0-60, but in reality 0-60 racing rarely happens. I can honestly say i have never been left looking at someones exhaust pipe against any similar spec car! As the rep coming off at Preston will verify last week in his BMW 330.

a standard tdci is about the same as a standard 2.2 :shock:

with a few minor tweaks - precat, exhaust, filter, the 2.2 will leave the tdci 🙂

but it's the same if you fitted a tuning box to the tdci it would leave the 2.2 :roll:

if you go full out on tweaking the 2.2 it will leave the tuned cdti 8)

I'm lucky enough to have both, so can compare like for like 🙂
