Hello and help im new cryb..

pulled up after short drive and exhaust noise was very louad so i looked back box tapped it with my foot and it fell off dunno..

i drove about 200 miles without before getting a new cybox cat back system with no silencer :evil:

but about 15 miles before new one went on engine light came on. its been about 700 miles since and is still on. I have canged the EGR valve witch made the light go out then on again them out again all over the space of about 30 miles and has been on since.

if was something bad after 700 odd miles shouldnt something of happend by now!!

how much do vx charge for timing chain change, after reading this site its got me worried!! 2001 - 50000 miles notsure.gif

Benny is the man for changing cam chains, he lives in the west midlands.

also a couple of others that will change it, Daz lives near Bristol notsure.gif

vx charge about £500 ish, but you can get it done for about half that dunno..

so if the light coming on was a serios matter after doing so many miles and most of that being town driving would you have expected something to go wronge??
No loss in power had a burn up with mates new golf GT (not GTI) its a 1.4 supercharged and we were neck and neck

Vauxhall charge £600 inc. vat for Cam Chain & Balance Shaft Chain Kit fitted.

Have you disconnected the battery and reconnected it to see if the light goes out. If you reconnect and the light is still present on start up it means that the fault is currently present and the fault must be rectified. If the light stays out after reconnecting then it okay.

Also, if it was a major issue, then engine would go into 'limp' mode and the car would run on an emergency map.

after disconnecting batt. it stays out for anything from 10 -30 miles . ive done it a few times after cleaning EGR and throttle body.

Could be a Lamda Sensor faulty? Tech 2 will give you the answer.

dose light being on restriced car in any way? it dose flash as well being on solid.
Is it possible to change lamda senor my self?

Tech 2 is the hand held device that Vauxhall use to do a full diagnostic check on your car. It plugs into the OBD port in your car and they can then access everything thats going on with the car. Snap-On do a version of Tech 2 which garages use. A Vauxhall Main Dealer will charge £60 +vat for 1 hour diagnostics check up. I was charged £27 by a local garage to check a fault code on my car a little while back.
