i need a bit of advise on a conversion im thinking of.

i currently have a garge which i want to convert in to a reptile room,its a prefab garge i think they are called its made of concrete pannels with like small gravel on the outside of it.

anyway i ahve a double door entrance which i want to brick up and then make a small door into the garge may be add a couple of windows insulate it and add electricity to it

anyone give me a idea how much it would all cost to do ?

depends how handy you are, you could make it all from wood dunno..

battern the inside and use some insulation, then fit a plastic membrane and finally panel it 🙂

you could build the new entrance from timber rather than bricks 🙂

ah right well the old entrance will need to be bricked in i think to keep temps up in there then i hope to cut a hole in one of the side pannels to fit a door in.

for insulation 1" of wood = 3" of brick :shock:

don't forget to use a tar paint on the floor and then fit joists and a plywood floor 🙂

the garage is made of concrete ?

i was thinking lots of insulation then plaster board it.

that's fine, just remember to fit a plastic membrane over the insulation [behind the plaster board] to stop condensation and fit a raised floor, you would be surprised how cold a concrete floor gets in winter :roll:

yea was thinking a raised floor will be a very cheap one. like battons then chip board and i will carpet over the top i think

B+Q etc should sell it, probably called bitumin or something like that, it's used to stop damp from rising up walls etc
