Urgent Help Needed!!

Hi all, I could do with a bit of help.

I've got a 2001 2.2 vectra(B) SRi 150 and the engine warning light has come on.

It came on when I started the car and it backfired into intake manifold.

A day later the car started to idle rough, then when I put my foot down the engine started to misfire at about 60mph. It's seems ok when cruising at low speeds, only when accelerating. Car won't go above 60 and seems to be getting worse.

Can't do the paperclip test as my pin number 6 is missing. Car booked in at vaux on Mon but NEED the car on Sat.

Greatful for any suggestions.

I am not very technical sure vocky will be able to help. Like dodger says possible coil pack? have you checked spark plugs. may be worth posting to see if anyone has a tech 2 or similar reader as it could be a sensor?

DO NOT do the paper clip test on the 2.2

It can fry the ECU. I know you can do this on other Vauxhalls but not ours.

you can reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery, but I'm sure the fault will still be there :roll:

I would change the plugs first, then blank off the egr, then replace the coil pack.

if it's still there it might be the chain has jumped a tooth, I hope not, but's it's a small possibility :roll:

had same problems started with new plugs blanked off egr turned out to be coil pack
