Mark_Dj How can I stop the condensation problem in my engine. When I have been out for a drive I park the car up and about 10 mins later I take the oil cap off and it looks like this in the link below... https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/ ... conde1.jpg Now this problem makes a white creamy problem in my engine with the oil and water mixing. Would the head of a later 2.2 engine make any difference as mine is aluminium and the newer heds are plastic. Mine being metal probably makes the condensation form easier. I have given my engine 3 oil changes this year but I still get this crap showing up. My head gasket is ok as my water bottle is fine. Any info on how to help out would be great. Cheers
vocky do you do loads of short journies ? I'll check mine tomorrow, I hardly use it, and rarely does 10 miles a journey 🙁
Mark_Dj Yes I make short trips to and from work. My work place is probably 7 miles away or just a little more. I also nip to the shops in it, and thats about 2 miles away
dodger I think its the short journeys that is killing the car. I get the same Mark as i only do short trips, one long trip once a week normally sorts it out though.
2_2SRi Change the oil, go for a nice long wkend drive, come back, check it again or replace the oil and see what that does. Im assuming your not losing coolant.
Jatie_150 Its normal for this to happen on short journeys just take the car for a blast up the motorway once a week , I do every sunday ....
vocky just checked mine and there's none on it mine has only covered 2000 miles a year for the last 4 years I'm using Castrol R engine oil, might be worth trying a different type of oil in yours maybe
Steve_W I have the same scenario, I only travel about 3 miles to work 4 times a day, so I get condensation build up. As said previously, take it for a good 'blast' once a week!. It will help.
Mark_Dj Cool, I do take it for a long run on the weekends 😛 . It's a pain and should not happen  . Vauxhall said in the summer it won't be as bad, I will give it another good oil change then 🙂
