The light with the car/spanner means an engine electronics fault/immobilizer.
Quote from the manual, 'Lights up for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. If it lights up when the engine is running there is a fault in the engine electronics system. The electronics system switches to an emergency running programme. Fuel consumption may be increased and the driveability of the vehicle maybe impaired. In some cases the fault can be eliminated by switching the engine off and back on again. If the control indicator lights up again when the engine is running, consult a Vauxhall Stealership to have the cause of the fault eliminated.'
