The head gasket blew probably due to disintegrated cat which blocked exhaust emissions. Presumably pressure build up blew head gasket resulting in heavy oil emulsion in top up tank. Had internal water leak prior to this but garage didn't think it was head gasket. Water loss still remains after new head gasket and continues to be a mystery as to where water is going. No smoking before head gasket replaced so valve stem seals not replaced.
Head pressure tested and skimmed. CO2 sniffer test on expansion tank OK
Is there any other reason for smoking? Old plugs removed shows equal thick light brown crust on electrodes. So presumably this would suggest that the fault can not be down to a single cylinder malfunction. notsure.gif notsure.gif
Do you still think blanking off EGR valve would help? Oil fumes sufficient to choke engine so that acceleration is poor on motorway when engine hot but accelerates ok when starting from cold. Engine does not want to go willingly above 3500rpm when cruising. notsure.gif notsure.gif
