Aircon Problem (lumpy Idle)

Well after Vaux rebuilt the engine a year and a bit ago it had to go back in a few times for little niggly things.

Well when i used the air con last year is started to play up on idle (revs jumping to 1.5k & then going 500 and nearly stalling) Vaux had it back and it seemed to be ok but i did need not it over winter and i came to use it for the first time today.

All good started the car banged on Aircon full blast revs fluctated a fiar bit but nothing major then i had a short journey stopped car and then started it again with air con on revs all over the place 500 to 1500 then back down again then it stalled. notsure.gif Re-started the car and if i had the aircon on with it on settting one it seemed ok, as soon as i cranked it up revs was very ir-regular on idle.

Anyone got any ideas?

Same as mine does si,,,thinks johns does it too...bit of a pain when u 1st start the car from cold as it rev straight to 1500rpm...i put mine down to my ported tb tho...

Cheers Daz, Bit of pain really but i dont use air con that much, ow well just have to live with it. The only thing is that i am sure it didnt do it before i had the engine rebuilt.

Mine didnt do it b4 wither,that y i put it down to the Tb...was chatting to john earlier and he said exactly the same thing..

As Daz says, mines all over the shop too. When I pull up at the traffic lights with the air-con running its like i'm getting ready for a drag race!!

No mate. I put the car back in the garage with the flush still in the engine. My chap at Gloucester Road Gearboxes is lending one tomorrow lunch time, he only works round the corner from me.

Mine does it too, but not to the extreme that your cars do. Just sounds like i have lumpy cams, coupled with the fact the aircon is only going to be used for approx 3 months until it get silly i wont bother.

this was the cure [I think :oops: ]

you need to reset the ecu and do the usual 30 miles of moderate driving, THEN switch on the aircon and do another 30 miles of moderate driving.

the aircon swaps the ecu maps and you need to settle both before booting it 🙂

Nice one, will try it, Just one quick Q this will not affect my ecu remap that i have will it?

no it just resets the variable parameters 🙂
