General 2.4 Inlet Manifold Questions

lets get a nice simple bracket designed wat anyone can make at home with cheap bits cos everyone gunna have this ecu problem. showo.. lets get some ideas posted and prototypes! 8)

Is this going to work on an Astra or Vectra anyway? The air induction comes in from a different side on the vx220. The position of the ECU and the attached plugs will foul the induction pipe on the Astra/Vectra.

raise up the inlet pipework (if theres clearance) - to clear it ?

My inlet pipe is already fouling on the underside of the bonnet.

with some simple L or Z shape brackets the ecu can be fitted low enough to clear the air intake 🙂

I have the drawing of the nice bracket I posted earlier. I'll post it tomorrow or asap. It is easy to saw yourself, out of 2mm alu plate. I bought 4 plates for 17 euro's, so in Holland aluminium is still cheap 😉

3 files, one of them is a Word doc for those who have not the correct software to open the CAD drawings. The .doc drawing has all dimensions in them, the CAD drawings not, but they are to scale. The CAD drawings might be easy if you want to laser the plates.

If you plan on installing the 68mm TB later, you could consider to make the hole 67mm, the size of the opening of the manifold (check). This will allow you to switch TB's quickly. But I have to check the flange of the 58mm TB if that extra big hole will not give any problems.

I made my plate using a jig saw, no problem:

Thanks Maik. Those drawings are perfect to work from. Working from those you could make the plates by hand or machine them. I'm going to have a scout round the scrap bin to see what offcuts I can find.
