I made the 300mile round trip to Benny's today to get my timing chain changed. Been umming and arring about having it done since I bought the car last July! I'd had a problem with the Vectra which had caused it to lose low down power and had tried various things to fix it to no avail - so I thought I might as well get the timing chain done just in case there was an issue with the timing.
Well, there was. The exhaust cam timing was a tooth out! It probably happened when I had the tensioner replaced a couple of months ago as ever since then it's been a bit crappy. Well not any more! 8)
My car is a 2001 51-reg and according to Vauxhall is NOT affected by the timing chain problem (I have an email confirming that my chassis number is outside the range) - but it had the old-style oil jet fitted :roll:
Anyway, it's done now. One less thing to worry about and a brilliant bonus in the fact that it's sorted out my car completely. I now like it again! :lol:
If anyone reading this is considering getting their chain replaced I'd definately recommend Benny. Doesn't matter where you live, it's worth the trip. Top bloke, definately knows his stuff and does a cracking job 😃
