found out some info the other day about the standard ecu maps.

the astra, vectra and zafira ecu maps are self learning by up to 20% from standard 🙂

but the vx220 ecu map has the self learning restricted or disabled 🙁

so getting an astra (non aircon) map installed into the vx220 ecu would be a good idea 🙂

plus the vx220 rev limit is only 6500rpm, whereas the others are 6750 rpm :roll:

Self learning restricted? That is not what I have seen. When changing over to a different exhaust on my speedster, I defenitly saw the ECU increasing its long term fuel trim by 17%. Did a check on power before and afterwards, and there really is a change. So it seems that it is really self learning. Don't know about the limits ofcourse, but remapping the base map should take care of that and give you more room for improvement.

Now if I could only find someone which can do a good remap over here in the Netherlands for this ECU.. :/

my vectra ecu took anything I threw at it, my vx220 won't budge.

so I asked the question and that was the reply I got, maybe you already have a remapped ecu notsure.gif

I have always thought that the remaps are actually the astra map, as this would give a higher rev limit straight away dunno..

My enginge hits the limiter at 6200 or something, which is completely stock afaik.

I did have a company attempt a remap on my ECU, but it didn't work. Obviously they didn't know how to write a map for this ECU. The first results looked ok, but when I measured it again after 30-60 minutes, the ECU had reversed all the changes. So I guess they changed the wrong parameters 🙁

Would love to find someone that can do a good map. The results I got before it went back to default were VERY encouraging (this is on a stock engine in my speedster, and ofcourse measured at the wheels):

Hmm, ok. I've heard good things about power-plus in belgium, but judging from your comment they're not as good as EDS?

tbh i've never heard about power plus... Only person i'd go to in Belgium is Heinz in Aalst.

But why eds? because eds specialises in OPEL, they can tune up almost every opel model going from cams and headwork to bigger turbo's and chiptuning.
Another good one is vmax wich is also in germany.

Chipping the z22se will give u around 160hp but it will mostly improve driveability and torque in the lower rev range. In the higher revs there will not be much difference so u wont be faster at the red lights (well maybe 0.1-0.2 seconds). But like most pple i drive around in the lower revs so the car will drive much nicer.

EDS used to have a remap for Schrick cams on our stock ECU but apparently they don't do it anymore

I think for better results the ecu should be replaced, the remaps only adjust the parameter limits and a standalone ecu could be mapped perfectly to the engine dunno..

yep stage 3 (190hp if i remember right) was schrick cams + better valve valve springs and headwork but stage 3 has been taken off the site. But if u call them u might find out why not or maybe thhey are preparing a better (cheaper) alternative

Dont know what to believe now, i asked the question this morning about a live remap and rolling road at a predominantly VX tuning specialists, though do others.
Rolling road £60 + vat ok.
Then he said cant do it on those theyre locked, anyone saying otherwise is lying, unless you put something aftermarket in front of ECU. Alternatively a new ECU around £600 with better gains. Maybe touting for money and work? mind you it did take me three weeks to get the car in for something else the local VX dealer couldnt sort.

So who does the remap and does it actually work?

all they do for the remap is move the limits for the parameters and alter throttle response, the base map is locked solid 🙁

replacing the standard ecu is the only way forward dunno..

Right, so he was telling the truth.

Mine revs to at least 6750 rpm may be more, didnt notice it cut out earlier coming on to the M54, but it does close to this point.

mine only seems to rev to about 6500 def not 6700 notsure.gif

my vx220 rev limiter is about 6450rpm and my vectra is about 6850rpm :?
