Getting annoyed now

getting pissed off with the astra and hate to say it but im considering selling it and getting the new shap vec diesel,

the other week i started to hear the timing chain rattle so checked the oil and it was bellow min (though strange no warning lights) took about 3.5 ltrs to get it back to full been running fine till this morning when on the way to work i could hear it again after the first time iv been looking for oil patches where i park but theres nothing.

even though my car is a 02 plate and according to vaux is outside of the timing chain issue could this be anything to do with it? also has anyone any pics of the new and old lubrication jet that is the fault? as i want to have a look at mine at dinner (if you can see it from the front)

the only way you can tell i think is to have a look at this nut on the back left of your engine if it has little cut in the corners you are ok notsure.gif

Really odd now went to put some oil in at dinne and its well up the stick took her out to the shop and back and no funny noise notsure.gif havent a clue now need to take a look at the nipple really anyone on here local to telford and knwo exactly where abouts it is?

(thought my days of going under the bonnet every weekend where up when i got rid of the saxo 🙁 )

I only get rattles from time to time notsure.gif , it sounds like a cam chain to me but if I turn the ignition off then back on again it's ok what..

I know this post is old, but i'd really apreciate if you could tell what cured it.

nope didnt find the solution and it seamed to get worse so i sold it on, had a simular noise on my vectra for 1 day and the bearing decided to make a hole in the side of the engine casing and go down the road

Sorry to hear about your vectra. Well i just hope that changing the timing chain will get this sorted. Maybe it is produced by a palstic guide or something.

Anyway the timing chain needed replacement because the car has got quite a mileage.

dunno.. Will keep you updated once the timing kit job is done.

Really hope the sound goes away! 🙁
