I'm looking at a Vectra SRi 150 which I could get very cheaply.

It has done 115K and I have seen paperwork to confirm the chain was done @ 84K, about 18 months ago.

What sort of safe life does that have left? I believe it was the new kit, but it wasn't a Vauxhall dealership (third party).

From what I have read the genral view is that chains should last 100K although they are sold by Vauxhall as lasting the life of the engine.

I had a car with nearly 120.000 on the clock. It still drove mint, just like new 🙂. It will last you a while as long as you keep it serviced 🙂

new chain kit should be good for 100,000 miles 🙂

the only chain kit available is the genuine item 🙂

Mine's done 127k and I have only just replaced the chain. :shock:

if it has had a chain kit fitted then it will last the life of the car aslong as you change the oil regular .............the car will go before the chain lol.......

The one thing I have learnt and I'm planning to do anyway is regular oil changes, every 3k or so, to keep the oil clean.
