Help needed!! A couple of things please!!!

Ok one thing with my beast!! Is that when you put your foot down you get a burning sulphur like smell?? Is this telling me the cat is working ?? Or that its cream crackered??? Or may be it just hasnt been driven hard??? Any ideas anyone :?

Secondly my gears!! Since i have had the car it has always been difficult to select 1st or reverse from a stationary posistion??? This sureley isnt normal?? Also my clutch bites very high up!! Is this a common thing with our clutches??

Not too sure, i think that the sulphur smell is a sign of the CAT dying, I think ive read that somewhere on here !!! I do know that you should be able to easily select gears, and your clutch biting very high probably does mean that you are running out of adjustment. Hope this helps, im sure someone like vocky will have some more to say !!!! 😃

Yeh i was afraid of that :?

Thats not good if my cat is on its way out :? Saying that or the clutch!!! Both expensive jobs i gather :shock:

if you can smell the exhaust when driving you could have a leak dunno..

the gears might just be the cable needs adjusting dunno..

as for the clutch, replace it if it's slipping - otherwise save your money 🙂

Sometimes the sulphur smell can be crappy petrol but usually it can be the cat starting to break down. As for the gears, as Vocky said, you can adjust the cable linkage but i'd leave that to a professional (or Vocky :lol: ).

You may also find that after you've selected reverse and moved then stopped, the gear for 1st maybe just out of line. Mine does it sometimes when my car is in the garage. I drive in and park it, then when I go to reverse out, sometimes I can't get reverse so I just select another gear to move the internals of the gearbox and then try again. It goes into reverse fine then.

Yeh mine is when i have been stationary @ lights. Then it wont go into first without rolling forward and reverse is the same when i go to reverse out of my drive!!!

As for the smell it definatley is sulphury i reckon!! And only stinks when i give it a blast notsure.gif

Clutch hasnt slipped yet just bites v-high???

Also does anyone else get a whine from there gear boxes??? When changing up through the gear range??? And i cant do quick gear changes either!! As it just shakes the whole car lol..

So i just do slow changes with the revs down notsure.gif
