trading in a car

Say that i was to trade in a car of a value of £3000, and i seen a car i liked with them for £2500, would they do the trade in and give me £500.

Or do garages not work like that??

And also does anyone know if garages will do a straight swap, if i took a car worth £3000, and swapped it for a car worth £3000, do they do that?

Some may do it but i very much doubt it, they will always try and give you less for yours then what there car is priced at.

I doubt a garage would give you a car + cash. (i may be wrong though)
