Are Dell pc's any good? I have only ever had packard Bell. Mine is 5 years old now and my girlfriend is thinking about getting us a new one soon. Cheers for any info...

never bought from dell myself but have heard very good things about their desktop pc's. they always seem to be good value from money.

i bought my packard bell about 14 months ago and wish i had got one from dell.

Thats what had me worried moving away from Packard Bell and trying Dell. I know peoples work places use them alot. Dell do offer some good deals. Cheers

to be honest Mark i wouldn't buy another PB machine, if i was gonna buy a new pc it would be a dell. but when the time comes i'll probably just upgrade what i have rather than buy a new pc.

Speaking from experiance ,ive had my dell for 4 years now and touch wood,never had a problem with it from day one....

in all fairness Daz most of my friends have dell machines and like you have never had problems with them. i only bought my packard bell one cos i couldn't be bothered to wait for delivery of a dell one :lol:

We have all dell machines at work, and 2 dell servers, never had any bother with them, easy enough to sort out if anything goes wrong.

Just make sure if you buy one, or more, you download the dell decrapifier as dell like to load shit loads of crap onto them for when you buy them, unless you want all that shit on, then ignore what i just said! lol

Never liked dell,

great for business use, not good enough for hard home / gaming use, yeh you can buy the top gaming one but it costs and you could build better for less.

but if your after a cheap as chips machine then you cant go wrong tbh.

I've had three dell desktops and two laptops, good value for money

the hard drive failed on the first desktop after 5 years, but was cheaper to upgrade than rebuild 🙂

I would buy a Dell next time. I've got a Packard Bell, its been good but I wish I'd bought a Dell. A friend at work has just bought a Dell and he's happy. The only problem he had was that he set his budget and the sales team took him about £200 over what he wanted to spend. :shock:

He also didn't make it clear that he wanted a dedicated graphics card as opposed to shared so he's having some upset about that at the moment.

One thing, great machines and the aftersales is better than most. But buy from the OUTLET section, there is a link on the webpage strategically hidden, but they are so much cheaper and many are still brand new boxed items ......

Bought my laptop from there, over three years ago, got it for a good price and it compares favourably with models still available today.

We have Dell at work as well, probably 200 desktops and quite a few poweredge servers. Those numbers can't be that bad.
