fitting satnav

how much and how hard would it be to fit sat nav into the centre console where the mfd is ?

i know i would need a new centre console what else would i need ?

Buy the VDO one Vauxhall do, it fits into your second slot and the screen may fit the top as I have seen it done 🙂

I bought a PDA for use with my job then discovered I could use it for SatNav... it had never crossed my mind when I was looking for one. The whole caboodle cost me

HP2210 PDA with extras £160 (ebay)
TomTom Software £10 Ebay
Cradle/charger/speaker £29.99 (ebay)
Holux Compact Flash GPS reciever £44.00 (ebay)
Extension GPS reciever £9.99 (ebay)

Total £253.98

Also have speed camera data base installed on TomTom from www.pocketgps.co.uk

Also have 15 CD's in MP3 format on SD card in PDA that plays through cassette adapter into cars sound system. Brilliant !! It would hold more but with my autochanger I find that 19 CD's are enough...and where could you find a 15 CD changer!!

The passenger can also watch the odd film although the screen isn't ideal for this...a bit on the small side really.....

I have the mio 168 pocket pc with tomtom 5 for £170, its better than just the satnav units as you can put loads of stuff on there.

ambivect - could you not get an FM transmitter for playing the MP3's as the tape kits don't give that good quality....that's what I've done with my Ipod?

Am currently fitting the vauxhall vdo drive unit up to a veba dvd and screen to go in the astra sat nav console! It aint easy! notsure.gif
