dcp Just wondering if someone could provide me with some brand names and prices for : -sports cat -sports manifold -sports cam I own a Astra 2.2 SRI 2003. Already done the airbox mod with kn panel and vec C intake. Also have a remus cat back setup. Any other performance mods anyone can advise me on. I have inquired about the pre cat removal and the guys at the exhaust garage states that they risk getting shut down if they did it and got busted doing it. Is this true? Keeping in mind im from melbourne Australia. Is it worth me remapping after the sport cams and manifold?. Any advise would be greatly appriciated.
vocky I don't know the rules in Australia, but in the uk it's quite legal to remove the precat. But in Hong Kong it will fail the mot :shock: it's certainly a good idea to get a remap after fitting all the mods 🙂
dcp Thanks Vocky. Yeah the dude was not willing to have a bar of me and my pre cat. Seems that the UK allows tweakers to tweak to their hearts content. Not here...dam. Any chance you can drop some names for some bitz n pieces (cams and manifolds that will perform and more so fit onto a z22se). Have you remapped your ride?? if so much difference?? One more thing mate, would there be any difference between a bolt on sports cat and one that requires a welder??? Im not sure there would be (apart from the labour costs??) vocky cams in the uk are usually 'pipercams' or 'schrik' sports cat - I use a 'magnaflow' weld in type I haven't remapped my z22se as the ecu will learn a few mods by itself, but it could do with a remap dunno..
dcp Thanks. I was thinking magnaflow too. With the piper or schrik cams do they replace the existing one fit for fit or do they need extra work?? Would a sports manifold help release a few extra ponies or is the stocky pretty good. Tax time is a comming...and im getting mighty hungry. Cheers dude.
vocky magnaflow are a good make 🙂 pipercams are a direct replacement, no extra work shrick cams need valve springs etc, but come in a complete kit the standard exhaust manifold restricts the engine by about 10bhp 🙁
xinitialz will another exhaust manifold + sportscat make any serious difference without a sportsexhaust?
dcp Thanks vocky!! What sport manifolds suit the Astra TS 2.2? I just got a quote (just for labour) on the cams and the mechanic stated it would take all day. Bout $400 AUS and thats without the good. Damm. Would you go the shricks over the pipers? Ready got my cat back, de-restricted air box, veccy C intake and K&N panel. If i was to get the sports manifold and sports cat (leaving the pre cat in of course...ozzie democratic crap) and NOT worry about the the cam work (for now) how many ponies would i have gained?......maybe a nice remap then too. vocky the problem with the pipercams is they require you to supply the cams, whereas schrick are an outright purchase 🙂 with a 4-1 manifold and sports cat + system you should be around 170 bhp - because of the precat (175 ish without it)

What BHP will i hit (2.2 SRi astra) with the cams, sport cat and manifold...then a re map. I got a remus cat back and done the airbox mod with K&N panel and Vecky C intake. Thanks again mate.
vocky you need to send a pair of camshafts to pipercams so that they can reprofile them, not normally a problem unless you're the other side of the world :roll: power should be around the 170-175 bhp mark dunno..
dcp Cheers Vocky. Is it true that if i was to remap once my mech. mods are done i will have to remap again in the future (not sure how long) coz the ecu will start thinking it was back in "the old'n days"?? notsure.gif . Yeah not sure who or where i heard it. Cheers dude.
vocky some less known companies remaps tend to go back to standard 🙁 luckily the major uk companies maps are fine 🙂
