Hello !! Yes I have one, and I work in halfords, i believe its £10 cheaper there !! But if you buy the package for £10 more that currys at £189.99, you get a free carry case, worth £20 too!! (Double check me on that tho)

By the way, they are excellent, Ive never had any problems with it, its reliable, dead accurate mapping and road speed, usual features, voice, accent change, detailed route mapping, tom tom plus services, and im pretty sure, it comez with speed camera sites too, (finishes either last week, or this week) They are neat and compact too. showo..

Cheers for that Mark, I ended up going with the Germin Nuvi 310 instead, as the Bluetooth Phone Call feature sold it to me, and it came with the carry case already in the package. What do you reckon to that one?

Nice one! I bought it from Halfords just now, but there was no mention of the RAC Traffic aerial. Is there any site you'd recommend for getting the Speed Camera locations to add in as a POI?

I managed to find this one http://www.pocketgpsworld.com and it's only £2 for the month to download the Speed Camera locations

Yeah, pocket GPS is a good site, £2 a month works out at £24 a year, buy a speed camera card in halfords for £20, scrtach the front off, download it with that number from tom tom website, and you can get it that way, without direct debit or however you would pay with pocket GPS.

Have you got a small wire in the box with a mini usb connection, with two sucker things ont he end ? This believe it or not is the RAC traffic aerial worth £150 !! Its not actually advertised, the slaesperson should tell you. However, if you havent got it, try going back because its a deal bewtween halfords and garmin to have the RAC aerial free !! It will only be in a clear packet int he box like everything else !!! Hope this helps

Oh sorry, i think i misread your post, is it a Nuvi 310, or a Nuvi 310 "D" The D means deluxe. The deluxe one comes eith the aerial, plus a few more features. Sorry if I have mislead you, everything else is the same tho !

It's just the 310, the 310D which was the one with the Europe maps as standard, and that was £269 and I don't need the Europe maps, so just went for the normal one. Thanks for all your help though, I've got more information from you than the lass who sold me the product 😃

I have a TomTom 510, never had any bother with it, GF bought it for me for christmas, £269 from Halfords. That has the bluetooth calling feature etc too.

Work collegue has had most of the tomtom range, and most of the garmin range, kept them for 2-3 weeks, then sold them on ebay at a lass cause he never liked them, i think now he has stuck with the Garmin 660, but no doubt he will be back to me to sell it on ebay to go back to tomtom, then sell that and go back to garmin. lol its never ending.

Prices have come down a lot in the last two years.
Check to see if it has the toll roads on it as a starting point, a lot of new £30k+ have not in the last 12 months.
Sirf 3 would not use anything else, almost instant.
None of the software is 100% but roads built 5 years ago should be installed, do some tests i have heard many, lets say inconsistent readings with Garmin, but things may have changed in the last 6 months or so. If thats the case sling it back.
Used to get HGV and normal drivers come in moaning about the system they use, most used their own Tomtom.

Did notice Nuvi 300 & 310 at a local Halfords today sell off £199 dont know if its a good price.
Totally surprised me they had the latest Alpine Ipod head unit on display and not 6 months down the line.

Back to the nitty gritty, i will sooner or later have to pay and upgrade to Tomtom 6+.
The stand alone Tomtom 500 series are very slow probably due to the receiver, gaffers got one and takes in excess of 4 secs to update, mine with Sirf 3 receiver updates every 1/2 sec and pin points your actual location within 3 metres.

Yep, that is the one you are thinking of. I'll be getting it in September. I don't see the need to play CD's though when you can plug the IPOD into it with 30gig of music on it.

I just slap 157 mp3 on a cd and play that.
Now i dont want to think how many i could get on a DVD dual disc.
Why pay Apple their premium (outrageous charging) for marketing hype and the way they do things. Itunes garbage on my phone as well supposed to be straight mp3 with no holds barred.

Hiya, I've had a tomtom 700 for over a year now. Obviously, they've been upgraded since, but it is a superb unit. I'm an area manager and drive approx 30,000 miles and it's never led me 'up a garden path'!

The only critisism is that you can't update the mapping free of charge.

The old TomTom Go which I used that belonged to my Dad had never let me down in over 3 years of ownership.
