building your own spec pc

as above really, i'm wanting to know a few things:-

is it simple to build a pc at home?,

what bits will i need? i.e memory,processor, sound card,etc etc.

and all within a cheap budget of under £300.

monitor not necessary, is it possible to build a good 1? dunno..

Actually physically building a PC isn't difficult at all. The hardest part is specking it out, and making sure you get components which work well together.

you need to go for an INTEL based system rather than AMD, as INTEL are made for number crunching calculations needed for encoding and such like, whereas AMD chips excel in gaming aplications

ebuyer.co.uk is a decent site and cheap too, for buying components for building your own computer. im sure that there will also be a number of how to's on the internet somewhere on how to do it.

Its faily simple to do, as most things can only go into one place. lol

I used to build basic PCs all the time around the £300 mark to be honest unless you are looking at spending 800+ i would just buy a off the shelf PC like Vocky says from Dell ect. You wont get much better spec for your money and then there is the hassle if there is a issue if one componenet it faulty.

i say dell to easy and ready to run
i built my pc from scratch 2-3 years ago and spent over £2500 on all the bits by the time id finished, case mobo processor and memory and all the bits 4 x 250gb hdds got the stuff off ebay and computer fairs..
but if i had of been to a shop and had it made it would of cost me double that and some but i still have a very good pc to date and will last me 3 or more years so a pc for 5 years £2500 not bad
just had a new water cooling system big beast lol

compared to specs of pcs now its still good and considering ive had this setup nearly 3 years now

also to follow the thread a bit more i say if you got the cash build ya own is very easy but if cash is short the buy build for convinces, as said before the hardest part is get compatible components and stopping the blue screen of death in windows while you get the right drivers installed lol

Well being a technical engineer dealing with PC's and servers all day everyday I can assure you aslong as all the parts you purchase are compatible then it's a piece of cake.

Unless your capable of jamming the square peg in the round hole you'll do just fine....

Oh and my PC specs just for you to dream about.... However I did get alot of parts for my PC for free... The wonders of working in the industry...

I have 40GB in mine, play games, do websites, do work, store pictures, films etc, and its more than enough. lol

Movies, Music, Photos, website backups, the list could go on.

My whole life for the past 6 years is on my PC, whether it be Photos (I've got 10gig of photos from the past 6 years), home videos. I've got a few hundred gig of music on there as well.

I have had my last PC for around 8 years, only upgraded the hard drive to a 40GB and nothing else, and it got hammered like fuck on the internet when i was younger, downloaded thousands of music files, albums, films etc, all legit of course, lol.

I have just never understood why people have sooooo much GB space. Can understand the memory being high, but not the hard drives. lol

But each to their own and that. 😃

What might scare you even more is I have about 4 TB's of external hard drives.... So around 4000gb of music, movies, games etc etc etc...
