Very different to what we have over here.
Could you please elaborate on that?
Mechanically they should be identical, all I can think of are the things which come as standard on our model would most probably be optional on your's.
This includes things like cruise control the leather seats auto dimming rear view mirror ect? Or are there other more major differances?
You've basically summed it up there. The 2.2 Astra is "usually" either 3 door hatch or Coupe over here, with a couple of 5 door examples. The saloon version doesn't exist over here as far as I know in the 2.2.
In the Astra as well, it's a Sports model over here, so you get the Sports Seats, White Sports dials, lower suspensions etc.
I see.
It's like the coupe's the only one we have over here are the 2l turbo ones and nothing else.
Our model ranges are expanding as the market for new cars continues to grow here.
I have my name down on a waiting list for the Corsa OPC due out soon here.
Again given our altitude turbo car's are quite a bit faster up here than NA ones.
My 1.8T A3 I had prior to the astra for instance altough qouted at a similar power level showed the astra a clean pair of heels.
We do have the hatch as well although only in 5 door model branded as the GSI for this model range.
Features where identical apart from the suspension which as you stated was a bit more sporty.
The problem is that GM and most other manufacturers at one point believed we had to travel down dirt roads and constantly dodge the elephants and lions lying in the roads.
It came as a huge suprise to find out we have an extensive motorway network and that a lot of people (me included) has hardly ever left the cities,
The province I live in you can quite literally drive between 6 cities without ever leaving a built up area.
And the only time I have ever seen a lion was when I visited the Zoo.
At least we now have things like the OPC with the plus pack (zenonz 19" rims ect)
Let's hope this trend continues unabated.
For interest sake what is the value of a 2003 2.2 model as mine in the uk roughly 70 000miles on full service history. in sa we can pick them up for the equavilante of 7000-8000 pounds sterling....
