Which engine do I need?

Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked before but:-

How do I identify which engine I need to replace the (broken!) one in my sons Vectra.

It is a late 2001 2.2 GLS petrol model. From what I understand it could be one of two, either the Z22SE or the Z22YH.

What is the difference between the two and how do I identify which one we have?

it will be the z22se engine

the vectra B has a different inlet cam - this has a hexagon drive for the power steering pump

use the old cam if the new engine doesn't have the right cam, very easy to swap.

also fit a new cam chain to the new engine before fitting it, you don't want a repeat.

the z22yh is a direct injection and is not suitable for the vectra B, the heads are different and so is the wiring loom and ecu.
