Vauxhall cam chain

I phoned vauxhall to ask if my car was included in the recall, (2001 150 vectra) I was on hold for about 10 mins and he came back sating it was only for corsas !?! Anyway, in the end he said it wasnt. I didnt trust this and went to a place near me where they tok my reg typed it in the pc, and it came up with "No recalls or faults recorded for this car" so I went away pleased, but im not so sure !! I dont know if I should trust them, I will probably do the chain anyway just for peace of mind !!

Hi all !!

Does anyone know if its possible to check if the small oil jet is in place ? Is it easy to get too, or is it a case of if your taking it apart to have a look, you may aswell replace the chain whilst its completely stripped ??

I have also asked this question, by the time you have gone to all the effort to check the chain/jet, the items had may as well be replaced.
(scared to give it a bash myself!!!)
I also contacted Vauxhall as my No. is 11065400, they were certain the car wasnt up for a recall. With all the info the guys give in this forum Im gagging to get mine done................... the cost is the delaying factor at the mo. Just clocked 77,777 this morning on the way to work...... so if its gonna go it`s sooner rather than later.

I'm in the same boat guys I am looking to get the cam chain done within the next few weeks...
As Drakey said mate by the time you have done all you need to do to get to see the jet you'd be aswell buying the cam chain kit and fitting the chain and jet yourself or get it done by a pro no doubt someone will notice this thread and tell you there is a guy on site that does the cam chain change and the price he charges is really good...

All Vectras before 2002 ARE in the affected range! I rang Vauxhall Luton Tech Centre twice and dealt with my local dealer 3 times on this subject and they ALL came back with the same answer....Its not in the affected range!

I chose to ignore this information because i'm a stubborn b4stard and upon removal of the cam chain cover we discovered the old style oil jet!

My advice to anyone is get your chain done if you have a Vectra pre 2002 with no paperwork to verify the replaced chain and jet. It WILL have the old style jet in it and you WILL be sorry when it snaps! You can get the cam chain parts for just over £100 and Daz or Benny can arrange a time to do it for far less cost than Vauxhall. I believe Vauxhall charge around £600 to do the cam chain and around £1200 if your chain snaps and they have to replace things.

Its really up to you...as harsh as it sounds!!

the cut off is 11064500, from that engine number they are the later type chain kit.

so Drakey you seem to have the exact number :shock:

all vec B's are supposed to have the old type because it was march 2002 when they started to fit the new chain kit and it takes a few months for engines to filter into production, so the vec C was in production when the new engines hit the production line.

but you may have had a new engine notsure.gif

My numbers 11033051, but as you said, best to be safe with the Vectra B.

i tried getting a chan kit from a local motor factors but had no joy. i think its a main dealer only part but could be wrong.
