No substitute for rear wheel driven cars for driveability, next best 4 wheel drive but at least 280 bhp. Hate FWD, but generally go quicker round corners driven as a normal person would. To get a rear wheel drive to go quick round a corner you have to enter side on and usually come out slightly side on, a bit scary for others when other traffic about, plus dont wanna look a knob. Yep had a Capri serious modded that would out handle a Lotus Elan S4 in corners.
Had my Veccy since new, well 3777miles. Always has been vague and unprecise a common trait i heard before purchase.
Country lanes, mine just darts across the road when hit a mild bump such as manhole or drain cover. Powerflex on wishbones and rear roll bar. Rubber jobbies tight on rear. Suspect the rear shocks not having enough damping/rebound, std ride height. Also suspect and have played around lately with the camber as it was taking the outside left and inside right front tyres. Now both slightly wearing the outer, but negative camber suggesting tracking.
Had a gut feeling that when tracked, its tested stationary under no load. When wheels are powered it has to pull the weight of the car against the bushes, subsequently altering the toe out angle plus usually a camber in the road gutter.
Still steers left even after 3 good tracking sessions, one a 4 wheel track, more prominant when tyres get 1/4 worn and coming up to that now ive had em 6 weeks.
Yes you can feel the side walls folding on Michellin Pilots terrible, Toyo T1R are better when new but the F1 a lot better still and all round too. Shame you cant get the best tyre ever produced any more, Yoko A008 on front you can get the back end out with NCT2 and the best Bridgestones on the rear with FWD!
Got some FK Konigs in front of me adjustable damping/rebound and coilover, shame they are the wrong ones and going back tomorrow, so back to square 1. I was going to do all the suspension then have camber set and tracked up as well.
