Late 2005 model - ABS Plug removal = Canbus reset ?

Local Main Dealer advises that if they remove (to clean) an electrical plug such as the ABS plug, then the CanBus Network needs new/refreshed CanBus Network Addresses which takes 45 mins to Tech2 (or whatever) ??

So which plugs can be removed without screwing up the CanBus ? (eg spark ignition module plug ?)

And does disconnecting the battery mean that CanBus cannot detect a plug has been reseated, or is there some hidden backup battery ?

what a pain in the butt, if you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes surely the ecu will not know notsure.gif

I should have also explained that we have had the `dead instruments' syndrome, which has now gone away without Mr MainDealer finding a fault code!! Apparently because the Instruments are on the CanBus, a dodgy ABS plug (2003 models) or steering CIM module can cause the Instruments to die as well ....
However, I heve found it is possible to get the spark plugs out for a check without disconnecting the ignition module from the engine wiring loom on my Z22YH.
Any Vx techies out there to enlighten us ?
