just wondering if imports are more expensive to ensure than the uk equivalant??

anyone got any idea??

they can be very hard to insure, the reason they give is parts are more expensive.

the opel vectra is dearer than the vauxhall vectra to insure :?

ah right. so i'd have trouble getting insurance for a scooby import.

Andy, what scooby you thinking of getting? The WRX is usually an import and you generally pay about 15% more for insurance. If you are thinking of getting a scooby, i would consider the UK spec impreza on an T or V plate. Cheaper insurance group and the better car. I had one, with a few mods, it was mind-numbingly quick!!

its a P reg 96 WRX import. been offered it as a swap for my car but not sure what i should do.

That looks the lovely! It will be expensive to insure though. Group 20!. Very heavy on fuel, steady driving will see no more than 20 - 25mpg at best. But if you can afford to run it, then go for it.

well i only get about 25 mpg out of the 2.2. i'm gonna ring my insurance tomorrow and see what they say.

my biggest problem is i don't know a lot about turbo cars so when the guy comes today i don't know what to look for lol.

and yeah it does look very nice.

If its been looked after (Does it have full service history?) it should be sound. The flat-four boxter engine it has is generally bulletproof. When you drive it, give it some revs and check for smoke coming from the exhaust. If there is, usually the turbo is on the way out which can be expensive.

he claims its done 65k but no history so not sure on that one.

it is low but the fact it has no history makes me wonder if its genuine. but it looks good in the pics so will have to wait and see i guess.

scooby wrx 240 bhp.sti look a like.
p reg 1996 imported 01/09/2001,2 uk owners,white,gold wheels.

gold 17inc wheels,baleys dump valve,turbo timer,extra kit,turbo gauge in pod,s/s exhaust,sports clutch,toad alarm, elec pack,fold in elec mirrors,a/c that works,climit control.

just had oil filter and oil change with receipts no history but in very good nick and looked after.no smoke noises or hold offs.

car has few marks but very clean. its in very good nick for year.few stone chips marks.this car is fast,converted to mph.must be seen !!!.

thats what is written in the ad.

So it has been converted from kph to mph from its time in japan (Or wherever it was before this country). This is the biggest problem you have. Without the service record, you have no-way of verifing that milage. Unless the DVLA can help you out? Maybe a HPI report could be usefull also.

it looks nice, make sure the engine is in perfect condition - they cost £2k+ to rebuild :roll:

well the guy has been today and the car looks even better in the flesh. he took me for a quick run in it and boy was it quick. i'm very tempted to do the swap but gonna ring my insurance tomorrow before i decide to see how much it will affect my premium.

as long as the engine sounded sweet, no knocking/rattles/smoke, you should be ok dunno..

gonna ring flux tomorrow and see what they say, will ring around a little to if their price is too high.
